A manslaughter charge will not support the preferred narrative that police are out to deliberately kill black people for personal enjoyment or racism or to keep them down or something
I looked at the 2020 police shooting that ended in death. 247 black people were shot and killed by police in 2020. All other races almost 800. So every other race that wasn't black was killed over 3x more by police. Yet they accepted it as a you deserved it. What if 50% of those none black shootings those races burned looted and murdered afterwards for a year or two?

The BLM freakout has reached such a fever pitch that I will be genuinely shocked if the jury doesn't cave and convict on all counts. This is the weakness of the jury trial system: 12 people can be made to fear for their lives.

Generally not unless the powers that be allow it. Maybe if some group puts the thugs in their place the jurors will think freely.

Two things. First, your math doesn’t help your point, all things considered. Second you noted “shot and KILLED.” At first glance one would think that’s relevant, but there’s no mention of simply “shot,” or the rate at which deadly force is employed, and the target of that force survives. I don’t know the figures, but that stat would seem more relevant or simply “shot and killed.”

Oh horse pucky - shot and killed is the stat stated - there is no reason to try to move the goal posts.

"Number of people shot to death by the police in the United States from 2017 to 2021, by race"

    780 other race than black
    241 black

3.2x more none black shot and killed by police in 2020 than black people.

    2021
183 none black shot and killed
    30 black shot and killed.

6.1x more none black people shot and killed by police.

I assume you’re familiar with Jacob Blake? He’s been held up by BLM. Is he include in those stats? Unless he’s met with some unreported end, I don’t think so. :dunno:

Thank you, but I’m not arguing the figures. I accept them. My contention is that “shot and killed by police,” doesn’t give a complete picture. I cited Jacob Blake, who was shot (and still lives), remember the guy who got shot pulling out his license (not Castillo), he lived too. There are others I just can’t cite them off the top of my head. If you want a comprehensive picture, I would think we would need to figure in ALL the times deadly forces was employed, loss of life or not. Surely that makes sense, right?

I would imagine the numbers would grow tremendously. How does one find that information? Only reason we know those stats is because it is considered homicide and they are all reported that is known of course.

I'm not sure how to use their browser, but this seems to be the best I can find https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/ucr/use-of-force

This seems pretty good but it's only for NYPD.

Maybe between these 2 some level of extrapolation could be done to give an educated guess?

Yet it doesn't seem relevant when we're talking about Chicago or New Orleans and people who don't fit the narrative shooting each other. It's almost as if there is a desire to minimize that problem

Personally, I think a more relevant statistic would be to not break it down into 'shot' and 'shot and killed', but to break it down into 'resisting arrest' and 'not resisting arrest'. What would you want to bet those would be lop-sided statistics?
