    Morning all... :coffee:

I've been toting the P226 around lately while working on the kitchen and mowing and the thing carries just fine. Not sure why I was thinking that I needed a summer gun.

Yep, I still fondly remember carrying my P226 Legion SAO one summer. No issues at all with it. Still miss that gun. Watched a review of the Shield Plus last night and if S&W ever decides to offer it optic ready, I may have to pick one up. Looks like a fantastic revision of the original with added capacity. I was impressed.

Spent the day (and yesterday) at my folks house in FL getting ready for the movers to come and move some of the stuff tomorrow. They are going to assisted living (I could use some of that myself) and doing a serious downsizing. Spent a day just packing up my dad's stamp collection... Should be interesting.

My brother arranged the place, so I'll see it for the first time when I walk in with the movers. We'll see how this goes.

    Had a doughnut for dinner.

I'm sorry you are having to go through this. However, I feel it is better to do it with them around.

My wife and I spent 6 months going through her parent's house getting it ready to sell and getting rid of things after they passed away. The basement was packed full of boxes, suitcases, etc.

There was so much stuff that needed to be shredded. Her dad saved tons of paperwork, plans, scematics, etc from his work. The oldest dates we found were back to the late 1970s.

It would have taken less time, but we could only go over to Southern Illinois every other weekend due to me being on call every other weekend.

It took us nearly 6 months to go through my dads collection of "Why did he keep this" collection and get the house ready to market. Pack rats. Old men will go straight up pack rats.
In this I have been cleaning out soooooooo much stuff. I will not leave that mess.

I look at some of the stuff that I have and wonder why I have it. I try to get rid of things as soon as I see this happening.
    Morning all!

    Morning folks! :coffee:

Having them around is a mixed blessing when emptying their house. My mother would stress over stupid things like a drawer full of cheap, promotional water bottles. The kind that they give away but almost nobody ever uses. She fought the idea of putting those in the donation pile because “They’re still new”.

We are still working on boxes of shredding stuff 9 months later. I have vowed the same as CM in that I won’t leave my kids this mess to deal with. To that end, I’ve been tossing crap that I’d kept for years. Decades even with some of it.

Car parts are the hardest for me. Especially brand new car parts. I still haven’t totally cleaned house of those. I often will order parts for future maintenance, then sell the vehicle and forget to toss the parts in the trunk.

So, anyone need an automatic transmission filter kit for a 1st gen Tundra? Spare doors for a mid generation for a Fiat Spider? How about a Spider hood? I think that I have 3 in the yard barn. Fiat X1/9 bumpers? I don’t have an X1/9 any more, but I did keep the spare set of late model bumpers for some reason.

    Morning all!

I’ve been getting better at that. The question I ask myself is “If I needed this next month, would I even know where it is to use it or would I just order a new one?” There are some things that I wouldn’t use even if it were sitting on the kitchen counter when I finally needed it.

Old water pumps. Why on earth do I have a collection of old water pumps from various car projects?

One of the things I like about gun parts is they don't take up much space. car parts, not the same, but still hard to throw away.

Every now and then we will need something and I'll be able to take care of the need by remembering where I have the part, but that doesn't happen as often as I would like and it is much better to just pick up a new one when the need arises. I'm slowly getting rid of my junk, but I probably need to increase the speed a little bit. When I straighten up the garage I tend to toss some things so I probably need to straighten it more often.

I'm as big a pack rat as most but trying to do better. It's easy to keep stuff until you run out if room. I try not to keep as much stuff that " I might need" but won't hardly get rid of stuff that would be hard to replace. LE is right, gun stuff doesn't take up as much room as cars and car parts
