It takes two miracles. Maybe his second miracle will be serving his full four year term without Kamala taking over the big boy seat.

$600? How about giving me $6000 instead of giving it away to corporations and foreign governments.

    It'll trickle up, I promise.

The funny thing is, $6k would be on the low side of what most nations gave to their public as aid, considering we only gave $1200 for a whole year.

Yes and pass a military spending bill like they are supposed to.

If we do not reign in these non representatives of the people we are in big trouble.

I could go for 5000 one page bills, with a strict limit on how many could be passed a day. And yes I'm serious, if it needs to be longer (or at least much) than the Constitution then it's too big. And I'm referring to the original unamended Constitution.

I like that idea. I do not think it would be possible to do that as the allocations section for the military bill would be rather lengthy.

If this bill was ripped into its pertinant sections and each section voted up or down and amended in conference as needed I would accept that as due diligence on the part of our representatives.

However, a 5 to 6 thousand page bill written by deep state bureaucrats and published so late that our non representatives just pass it so they can go home for Christmas is totally unacceptable.

The problem is that they make their own rules and don't give a **** what we think.

Break the military allocations down as far as they need to, even rank/branch separately. They need a separate bill for each caliber/type of ammo, oh well. They made their bed with this kind of crap.

How many pages do you think each pertinent section would be? I honestly have no idea.

What I would love to see is a congress critter on bills like this that can't be read/understood in a week is to not agree to unanimous consent to get the bill "deemed" read. With unanimous consent a bill can be "deemed" read and bypass the actual reading, but if just one member doesn't grant their consent... And consider each bill has to be read I think a minimum of 3 times. Although I might feel bad for the actual staffer(s) who actually had to stand there and read it out loud on the floor.

ETA But to be honest some of these bills that are thousands of pages long, aren't actually. I remember reading a 40-50 "page" bill here in IN, and the gist of it was maybe 40-50 lines if that. They would have an entire section of code taking up a couple of pages and strike and insert one word, or change a sentence and that was it.

Any time I think that maybe my elected representative isn't representing my best interests I think about what would happen if the holey fiscal balloon wasn't pumped up harder and faster all the time.

With changing the bill, Nancy can add another $2 trillion in pork.
Maybe she could delay it enough to destroy another 100,000 businesses.

The whole bill? Including the defense spending, which includes I believe a 3% pay raise for the military, and 1.4 billion for the border wall?
    Yes.

It is not possible for Congress to do its job of representing the American people by only having 2 hours to review and challenge 5,000 page bill. Congress needs to start passing clean bills, and clean bills alone. No more passing the law to see what's in it.
