There are a lot of places where they are great. Intersections that are more than 4 way are especially good places for them. I was pleased to hear they will be adding a new one near me where IN2 crosses 100S and 350W. It is a bad intersection with poor visibility. A RAB will help traffic flow and reduce accidents there.

Roundabouts take up a lot of real estate. They are too big to use everywhere so they should choose wisely where to use them so they may be an improvement instead of just a waste of space.

The mistake is making them circles. If they'd make them ovals, it would reduce speed and space.

no one uses their turn single at them.....:xmad:

On the small ones if you are entering and taking the first right then turn signals make sense. But otherwise they are almost useless. If you are taking the second right you don't want your signal on before the first right so you wait until you are past the first right and then signal but you are already turning off so there is time for maybe one flash or maybe only half a flash. Useless.

I can see it on the bigger ones.

If you're going to drive in the inside lane (when you have more than one) you also need to use your left turn signal to tell people that you're not taking the first or second exit.

THIS!!!!! No one in America is trained to drive these. They (BMV) needs to update and train this for drivers ed.

Oh, I don't know, I quite often see the driver's ed cars in the roundabouts.
Now maybe the test hasn't been updated... (technically, the BMV doesn't train drivers)

And we all took the test once in our lives before roundabouts were around.

Some of our roundabouts have signs explaining people how to use them.

Recently at a local roundabout a guy managed to get his car stuck in the middle of the roundabout, stuck in a tree ... no idea how he did that.

I didn't know I needed to signal nor did I know I needed to merge lanes on the left turn. Interesting.

Some accidents are caused by people not knowing how turn signals work inside the roundabout.

Large trucks with a big turning radius actually need to enter the roundabout from the right lane (with their left turn signal on), then take the inside lane for a brief instant and switch to their right signal to take the first exit.

Sometimes it surprises some folks who don't know the truck is turning right by signaling left.

Once you mastered a regular multi-lane roundabout you can try the next level, roundabout wit dual tram crossing.

When you're inside you have to pay attention to cars and trams entering from the right, but also trams coming from the left.

    .
    WOW!
Roundabouts are dangerous. How about adding signal lights to the roundabouts and also lane lighting in the road itself for cars to follow so it won't be so confusing for them. And some more signs explaining how to properly drive through them... and maybe some more laws to punish people who don't follow the lane lights, signal lights, signs and the roundabouts.

    or...

How about we just go back to dirt trails on horseback and forget all this upgraded bull****. :dunno:

That is crazy. In reality it is four tram crossings, and it looks like they all stop just before entering the RAB.

For the guy on the orange path. He switches from his left turn signal to his right turn signal just before he switches lanes. A car moves about 29 feet per second at 20 mph and about 37 feet per second at 25 mph so he MIGHT show one flash before he is off the whole roundabout. Who is supposed to benefit from that signal? That is if somebody felt like trusting a turn signal to begin with.
