While splitting wood, I found a 230gr 45acp projectile inside a log.
Uneventful, right? Usually, yes. Thing is, this is a steel jacket and lead core projectile. Fairly thick jacket based upon the open base where the lead is exposed. I had never heard of such thing. Google returns nothing but steel case information.
It's shiny silver, not rusty, so I reckon it's an alloy but it definitely is magnetic. Not your typical bronze colored bi metal bullet. Bright silver.
If it was all steel, it would have rusted in the wood, right?
Anyways, what is this thing? How old? Anyone ever seen this?
