    .
The linked story on the link you gave didn't have anything to do with INS going away. The thread I created was a fun way to share the story and the INS reference was for those of us who have been here for a good while, even if they weren't active posters.
I reached out to some people and my understanding from some friends who were active there right until it went away was that there wasn't enough activity (generating the Google Ads and the like) nor enough advertisers to pay the "bills". Without knowing how much their monthly cost was I can only guess that the owner wasn't getting enough profit for his pocket. Running costs for a small forum are pretty small. The most expensive part is a legal copy of vBulletin. When it came time to renew the server space he decided not to. The domain is still active but it doesn't point to any server. The domain will expire on October 15th of this year. If TexKev was smart he'd snatch it up and point it here. Should only be $15-$20 a year for the domain.

It wasn't so much the OP's thread it was the content in the thread.
It went away because of the inactivity. That's why I posted the link. Also that was what Churchmouse was talking about. It not how many member you have it's about the active members.

This is not free. Server time costs money. When membership wanes and participation drops off advertisers are no longer interested in the site. Hence........the lights go out.
    Happens every day.

I just figured your grandkids got hold of your phone and crashed the site

So when I get past 50 post, will I be able to access the INDO section of the forum? Or is INDO some super duper top secret section?:D
That's the Uber Super-Secret Secret Squirrel Top Secret SCI Uber Unacknowledged Area 51 Section. Which by the way doesn't exist and if it did I'd give you a cover story. After that I'd call the Uber Super-Secret Secret Squirrel Top Secret SCI Uber Unacknowledged Area 51 Section 24 hour help desk and snack bar to dime you out.

Got it. I thought you were posting because of the online felony. Mea Culpa!

My goodness that would be a nightmare.
I was a member over there under another handle. I contributed and I am sure a few knew who I was. The Ingo hate was intense. It calmed down but this would be the night of the living dead.
It would spark up the forum for a while.....
