    Real "Service" stations.
Where someone pumped your gas, checked your oil and transmission fluid.
    Cleaned your windows...
Gave you directions you could understand, and actually use!
Fill or fix your bike tires for free.

There was a "Service Station" on near every corner when I was a kid/youngster.
As much as we all loved cars and worked on our own (slipping down to the station that friends worked evenings and using the lift....:)) I always thought I would end up working in one as a mechanic.

Lots of memories in this thread. I can remember buying smokes for $1 and a can of chew was $.75
When we got our first VCR. The first time I used a microwave. My first crush on a girl.
Riding my bike 6 miles to my cousins house with a .22 on the handle bars to go squirrle hunting

I remember when car maintenance meant packing your own wheel bearings and adjusting dwell on the points. Oh and scrapping inside the distributor cap.
I also remember party lines and using phone booths
    I remember buying a used 6 GTO for $750.00
