I reupped my ArmsCare Plus firearms insurance. $145 annually for 12 grand in coverage. Cheap peace of mind for for me in the event of a disaster, theft, etc. It's not too unusual to be at a match or range out of town with a truckload of pretty expensive irons. Good to know I don't have to freak out at the many dollars of value left in a restaurant or grocery parking lot.

The timing of the payment works well for my budget also. If times were lean in the dead of winter, I could push this payment off during a time of less chance of needing to use the coverage. A bit of a risk, but homeowners insurance has some limited coverage also.

Purchased a combination hook/ball hitch for my SUV, swapped some preps around.

I also realized that we have a kerosene heater in the garage that has never been used that I can remember. I need to get it out, see if it works, and buy some kerosene if it does.

Starting to get into ham radio stuff. Bought a Amazon.com : Baofeng Black BF-F9 V2+ 8Watt Tri-Power (4/6/8w) (USA Warranty) Dual-Band 136-174/400-520 MHz FM Ham Two-way Radio Transceiver : Automotive and a 16" whip antenna for it. I can get my hands on a 30' boom and will mount it on my back porch and attach a Diamond x50a base antenna to it (6'). I'll eventually get a proper radio for the house to attatch to the antenna but for now I'll keep the cheap BaoFeng connected to it and mounted on my little work desk and then the BaoFeng will go into the camping bag.

I've got a second 100watt solar panel that's been sitting inside for about 5 months and I need to go out back and wire it in with the other 100watt panel. I may buy a 3rd as well and get a new charge controller and inverter, this is more Spring time stuff, but will be used to power all my new ham radio / communication equipment as well as my surveillance cameras and stuff. Right now it's not really doing anything but maintaining a charge on a array of four batteries in the basement.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to get a 50 mile range on the radio setup after it's all said and done with the boom and new antenna. I'm located about 50 miles from Louisville and about 60~ miles or so from Cincinnati right on the Ohio river. Would be nice to have be able to hit repeaters in that range.

Whiskey is ammo for the soul, right?
Whiskey is part of my preps for several reasons -
    1. Decon. Pour a little on a wound and it's reasonably sanitized.
    2. Fire starting. A high enough "octane" will help start fires.
    3. Trade material. Next to food, ammo, cigarettes and women, it's pretty good barter material.
    4. Personal enjoyment. No comment needed.

You forgot that whiskey is literally liquid courage.

"Man, I don't know about that... sounds a bit risky."

    ... few shots later ...

"**** it, lets do this! Onward we go!"

I ID'd all the rentals in the neighborhood that are stocking my food WSHTF. They made it easy by not raking leaves, non running cars, chia gutters that have never been cleaned......

Finally managed to get the home alarm in and set up. I am liking it so far. I would like to trip the siren, but just testing the smoke alarms has my dog over the edge.

Couple LA Police Gear jumbo bail out bags arrived today. Looking to make an "active shooter/ammo bag" and a car bag out of them.

Portable AM/FM/NOAA radio came (solar, crank, battery). Starting to get plans together for storing food in the house.

Looking into good places to get wool blankets, and considering water storage. Right now just lots of bottled water... but I've seen some storage containers, and I assume they last a long time.... not sure what the storage/shelf life of water is.

I'm thinking I bought my wool blankets from armynavy sales, it was either them or centerfiresystems....anyhoo, got a 5 or 6 pack of them really cheap.

I wish I was into this stuff back when the company my dad retired from still owned Sportsman's Guide. He got a damn hefty discount as VP, but I was a bit young back then.

Hell, didn't Sportsman's Guide used to sell ammo?

Yes. I think they still do but I have not used them in a while. Shipping is hit or miss with them.

Yeah, there's a thread floating around here somewhere about their shipping and backorder BS, I used to buy from them, but they've gotten so undependable that it's just not something I wanna deal with anymore.

You'll fill these up quickly if you're using them in the car. I have one as an emergency car kit / trunk bag and it's got jumper cables, flares, gloves, tarp, couple extra pairs of socks, etc.

I originally tried to use it as a get home bag too, but I quickly ran out of room. I paired it up with a cheap backpack I got at a thrift store. That's the bag I can just grab and go if I need to leave the vehicle and hoof it home.

Ran my first full mile today when I got home. Been working toward it little by little. After that my son and I worked on our gear for this weekends camping trip. He's 7, first winter camping trip. We're stoked!

Started working out regularly around the start of the year. Nothing fancy, just push ups, sit ups, arm curls, and stationary bike.
Remained a non-smoker (a bit over two years now) through another holiday season ;)
Got some winter gear into the commute vehicle
