Weren't LeMats more like .42 caliber?
As I have heard it, the AM 180 was tried by the SEALs(?) as the .22 could be kept on target, longer than a more powerful round. In full auto supposedlyI knew the LeMat, AN-94 and the XM-109. I didn't know the 1928 Thompson and the Lewis Gun had a love child and named it the American 180.

It's an anti-materiel rifle. The Geneva Convention disallows its direct use on personnel. Of course, you see that battle rifle that soldier is carrying? That's materiel. Aim for that.I'd really hate to get shot by that XM-109. Not that there would be much left after impact.
