But here in lays the problem. There's hardly ever anyone there right now. Like I said I live close enough to be able to hear the shots when there are people on the range. I only hear it maybe a few times per month. My brother lives a few miles away and hardly ever sees anyone coming or going and doesn't hear shots often either.

It seems the MSCC facilities are a lot like INGO as in there may be 30,000 members but only a handful ever actually post anything. MSCC may have 500 members but I bet there are less than 20 that ever actually use the facilities regularly. It seems to me the rest of the members just keep their membership so no one else can have it.

I don't think your statement is accurate (all due respect). I have been a member there for quite some time, with visits two to three times a week including weekends. I am rarely alone at any given time except for days of adverse weather conditions. Along with this, one rarely waits for a lane to become available even on "nice" days. It is a great place to enjoy the sport in a relaxed but, safe atmosphere. I hope the club will continue in this manner. Good luck to all willing to put in the effort to get a membership there, well worth it.

Last call for existing members of Martinsville Sportsmans Conservation Club to renew for 2015.

IF you have not mailed your renewal form and check by Monday 12/22, it is unlikely to reach our Martinsville PO Box by Wed. 12/24 cut off. Unlike years ago, you can't drop it off at the Martinsville PO last minute and expect someone to put it in the PO box directly, all mail to Martinsville makes a trip to Indianapolis before returning to the Martinsville PO. Somehow that is more efficient????

Just letting any procrastinators know one last time...if we don't have your stuff by Dec. 24th, your spot goes to a newbie on New Year's Day.

I almost screwed this one up big time. I read the rules, signed the paper etc. Thought I had already mailed it back. I saw this thread earlier and realized I hadn't!! Beat feet and got it mailed this morning. Hopefully it makes it

I will second the members who are happy with the numbest where they're at. I joined 5 or 6 years ago and there were rarely any other people there at the same time as me. Over the last 5 years it has obviously gotten MUCH more popular. Now there are usually other members sharing the place but it's still not crowded. However, I don't think it would take many more members to create crowding and waiting in line. I feel bad for the people trying to get in but that's just the way it goes I guess. It seems that the current number of members is providing plenty of $ for improvements and operating costs. They keep making it nicer and nicer. 300 yd range, new gravel and grading work, shooting benches, etc, etc.

The only thing I'd like to see is a return of the bowling pin matches!

I spoke with the mail clerk that comes to the office, and she told me to make sure I had mine in the mail by Monday (today). I had my in Friday, but I think you should still be fine.

My check cleared earlier this month.

Gotts give the board credit, the amenities the club has seen has been overwhelming since I have joined. Keep up the good work fellas.

I hace done a few Pin shoots before I was actually a member but participation fell off pretty steeply and was down to nothing. My step son and I was out there one Saturday and the lady had some of the equipment out but no one was there so we had a little shoot just her my step son and myself for fun only.

Theres already people waiting in line......... jk Im goin to try this year but going the Auction route. I'd spend the New Years with the family and know the extra $$$ is going towards local 4H shooting sports, then spend all night with the HOPES of getting in.

They announced that the road will be barricaded, so I don't know where you would spend the night. Surely the Martinsville PD wouldn't like a bunch of cars lined up on Burton LN. From their website:

Short entry road to the club off Burton Lane will be barricaded at the stop sign by 6 pm Wed. Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve)...no parking will be allowed on the entry road itself or to the sides. NO overnights allowed by members inside club grounds...facility must be vacated by 6 pm 12/31.

As a member I wouldn't mind them discontinuing any new memberships and gradually increasing the dues to maintain their current income until the membership rolls dropped to 250. I've spoken to several other members and even doubling the membership costs this facility is WELL worth it! I've never seen another solely volunteer member facility as nicely maintained and upgraded as this one.

So watch out about seeking members input, I'm betting there are a LOT of members that feel this way!

I am OK with the current membership level, if they reduced it that would be OK too.
Would you guys be ok with reducing membership numbers if it meant YOU lost your spot?

Is Morgan county ready for an indoor range? Would not compare to an outdoor range with long distance shooting but maybe a 15-25 yard pistol/light rifle range? I am asking for a reason! Just want to gauge interest.

Any word on the number of open spots this year? I've got my renewal already sent in. Just curious as to how many people didn't renew.

I would like to see one & believe there is a market for one here. With all the inclement weather we have, it would be nice to go indoors when it is nasty.

    One modeled similar to this one I believe would do extremely well;
