I almost didn't watch because it was MSNBC. I had figured they'd found themselves a group of halfwit hicks and were about to have a field day. After watching, I felt it was a pretty fair segment. I just wish they were a little more professional and respectful with the police at the end.

I watched it. I think if you are one of those people who hate guns, you will watch it and feel it confirms all gun people are nuts.

I have several guns I know I can open carry and conceal carry but what would be the point to put a target on my back knowing I would be the first threat to an armed aggressor. We have had this discussion a lot my son open carries I conceal carry he has his feelings about it and I have mine not to say one is wrong and other is right. When I am in a place that I see a person open carry I will always watch him as long as he doesn't touch his gun I will not touch mine. The difference is that he doesn't know I have mine. 100% of the time he is just doing what is lawful but he is still being watch. Other than it is lawful to open carry what is the point. Are people doing it to just make a statement (don't mess with me I have a gun) or this is the new wild west. We have had too many shootings in the news and people will get nervous when they see a person other than a cop with a gun. JMO

Sonney: Did you watch the video? They were using OC as a way to educate people that they had the right to carry and be able to defend themselves. It appears from a couple of peoples comments in the video, that they were having some success. I also choose to CC, but that form of carry does nothing to educate people who have been brainwashed for 2+ generations that guns are bad and only the state should have them in direct contravention of the intent of 2A.

If you want to understand a lot more about OCing, then you really should look at this thread: https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/carry-issues-self-defense/71996-open-carry-argument.html.

Ok, you have been here since 2012, albeit with a low post count, but you should know better than to state such drivel in threads such as these when there is a perfectly good STICKY THREAD, the second from the top of the page under this subsection of the forum, where you could try to win someone over with your fact-based argument. You win the internet for this day.

I was not trying to win the internet for the day and I did see the video I just think that there are better way to educate people on the right to carry a fire arm. We are holding on to our rights as it is by a thread. We have had mass shooting from people that should not even be around a fire arm and the public blames the weapon and not the person. What is the first impression from the police when they roll up on a group of men with ar's or ak's in the video you also notice that the mags were put in the rifles no body know if they were loaded or not. I just felt that they could have made tv time or class room time for concerned people. Most of the liberals in the country will not bend their way of thinking about fire arms. They all think that the police will be there when needed but in reallity they are there to take a report after it happens. And don't let me joining in 2012 or low thread count make you think that I am new to weapons. I have been a hunter since I was 13 and been in the military. I do know how to field strip them, clean them and shoot them safely. I do shoot on a regular bases. Alot of people don't know their rights when they put on their weapon you have the right to carry in this state how you want that is a given but that is where your right might end. If you pull it you better be darn sure you have the right to use it. And you better hit what your threat is if you miss and hit someone else it will not go good for you. Guns are not a toy they are a tool you better know how and when to use it. Now look at the city they are doing it in Detroit the murder capital of the world. Again these are just my opinions.

I applaud their effort. Especially in Detroit.

I open carry everyday, an 1851 Navy which isn't small by any means. I am in a mostly rural area of Southern Indiana and still have been approached by more than a few people who did not know it was even legal to carry, let alone open carry. Never been accosted by either police or civilian for it, every experience so far has been very positive.

Again I applaud their efforts, and was glad to see they left the long guns secured when they went in to eat.

My only concern would be the short step it would take for the "Hell's Saints" to become the new "Guardian Angels". I could see that leading to problems very easily.

That vid is probably one of the best example of guys OC'ing rifles (which I typically dislike) explaining their message.

So, I watched the video. Very surprising that it aired on MSNBC. If anywhere needs law-abiding citizens to avail themselves of their RKBA, it is Detroit. And as open carry in Detroit becomes more commonplace, it dispels several gun-control canards in one fell swoop.

    Which would be????????

One could easily argue that the thin thread has been created by a subset of the firearms-owning population that, in an attempt to deflect the negative ire of the ignorant public, decided to go hush-hush about firearms, thus creating a vacuum of knowledge and information, a vacuum that has been utilized to the fullest by those who don't support freedom and/or RKBA. In short, keeping them hidden and out of sight hasn't done you any favors when it comes to protecting them.
