I guess I'll go single stack and hope it survives. I wish I could find three more S&W .22A1 magazines that aren't $35 each.

Is there any other option for truly dedicated shooters? :D

    OMFG............

Mighty competitive words there! Mongo I think you have your work cut out for yourself with Josh!:D He would be hard to beat with a machine gun!

Well on another note, hotpocket and I were in a car accident yesterday after work! We are ok, mostly, my hand is the size of a volleyball!:( I hope the swelling goes down by Friday evening, and I will still be there.

Another tip (which I forgot last year); use LIGHT oil on your guns. I ran my normal oil that I use during the Summer, and my gun kept having failures to eject (slide moving slower due to rails being gummy). You wouldn't think it'd be that big of a deal, but with my gun being exposed to the temperatures (holstered), it didn't work worth a darn. My fault. Once I switched to something lighter, it ran 100%.

Shame on you! This is a lesson that needs to be experienced for full impact. For shame! FOR SHAME!!!

    But, he is right!

I have had good luck shooting my 1911 with CLP in the wintery snowy matches, so far its 100%.

I will say, when you take it home, and it warms up it turns into a MOISTURE magnet. Like soaking wet.

    Shooters,
Our Friday Night Steel match will be this Friday, December 10th at 6 pm. We will have 5 challenging courses of fire. We will begin course setup at 5:00 pm, and we'll need help from volunteers. We will have sign-up at 5:15 pm and a shooters meeting at 6:00 pm to explain the rules and to form squads. At 6:15 pm sharp, we plan to begin shooting. We'll be charging $10 for club members and $15 for non-members, with all money going towards the club or new steel targets. Shoot an additional gun for only $10 with your first paid entry.
YOU MUST ATTEND THE SHOOTERS/SAFETY MEETING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MATCH.
Sign-in will close at the start of the Shooters meeting.

Your help with setup is greatly appreciated. Please help tear down your last stage.

FNS is conducted under a COLD RANGE. That means all guns must be either holstered (or bagged) at all times, unloaded, hammer down, with no magazine inserted. You may only handle your gun at the direction of the range officer (RO), or in the designated "safe areas." You may not handle any ammunition or loaded magazines in the safe areas! Violation of these or any other safety rules shall result in a match disqualification.

    * PLEASE TAKE NOTE *
We have Friday Night Steel bumper stickers available for purchase. They can be purchased during sign in at all Friday Night Steel events.
If you wondered where to purchase the Friday Nights Steel gear that some of the RO’s were wearing. You can now purchase Official Friday Night Steel shirts and hats at Café press

    * PLEASE MAKE A NOTE AS THIS HAS CHANGED *
5 magazines or speed loaders is now the minimum requirement. If you do not bring enough magazines to complete all of the strings of fire, you will receive the maximum time for the strings of fire that you were unable to complete. We will not allow shooters (or their friends) to load magazines at the shooting line in between strings of fire, as it slows down the shooting procedure for other competitors.

With our numbers continuing to grow we ask that everyone does their part to make the match run as smoothly as possible. Be ready when it is your time on the firing line. Help to reset the steel. Volunteer to keep score.
If you're new to competitive shooting, we encourage you to check out the following site. It shows upcoming shooting events for 3-gun, Action Pistol (Bianchi Cup), Bowling Pin Shooting, Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS), ICORE, IDPA, Multi-gun, Steel Challenge, and USPSA.

Don’t forget about the Bowling Pin Shoot (Fourth Saturday) at Marion County Fish and Game.

If you have any questions, let me know.

    Sincerely,
    Anton C Howard

"As to species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with a ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." Thomas Jefferson 8 Papers of Thomas Jefferson 407 (J. Boyd ed., 1953)

If you wish to be removed from this list, please email me and you will be promptly removed.

Or, another idea would be to use lubes that are not affected significantly by the temperature all the time (at least any temperature that humans can tolerate).

I checked out the new Texas Star from MGM and the new auto resetting poppers tonight and everything looks great! It looks like Anton really has some nice stuff for us to shoot on Friday. I'm not sure if we're shooting the plate rack at all, but if we are, he ordered some sweet plates to use too! Can you say miniature sized poppers?

Dress warm, and be ready for fun!
