Did I miss something? I like to trade here on INGO in the clssifieds and about 7 out of ten offers that I've gotten have been .40's! Has there been a big story about the .40 cal being phased out or what??? I really like .40, so I'm not complaining, but it just seems strange. There also seems to be alot for sale also.:dunno:

A lot of people find them to be snapy. I do not see them as being so.

That was the big craze... everybody had to have a .40 or 10 of them. Now with the people needing money selling one of their 10 .40cal weapons is logical. just my 2cents

Well, I have heard a lot of banter about .40's having issues both in and out of Glocks. Not sure if this is scaring people off or not, but according to what I consider a very knowledgable member, .40 cal may in fact be easier and cheaper to come by in the future. (A post from Britton and 21st Century Firearms). Now, obviously he can't predict the future, but his logic was good.

I personally love the .40 cal and have standardized around it. I own very few calibers outside of .40 now, aside from my .22LR handguns for plinking and the like.

I also agree that some people think there is quite a lot of snap behind it, however I think it's perfect!!!

Some of it may be a reaction to the current ammo situation. I love my XD .45, but am not really shooting it much because of the ammo being harder to find and more expensive than my 9MM. I think .40 falls into that same category.

None of my 40's are in the classifieds but if I were to eliminate a handgun caliber it would probably be the 40. Speculation is that the 40 cal ammo will continue production because of the law enforcement demand while the 9 and 45 may dry up. Only reason that I'm keeping mine :dunno: I do not dislike the 40, just like the 45 acp ;)

I have moved to the 40 too

I got rid of most of my 32, 357, 38, 45LC and 9MM and bought four new .40 semi-autos as I think it is a good shell for PP. I stocked up on ammo and still see it in stores before 9MM. Still think the 9MM sells 10-1 against the .40. For general target shooting I stick with the reliable and cheap .22LR. :twocents:

I'm keeping mine, for sure. I love the fact that I can slap a different barrel in my Glock .40s and shoot .357 Sig. .40SW is a good round, in my opinion, for self-defense.

    Not that I don't like .45s. I have a couple Glock .45s too.

I'll probably branch into the 10mm Glocks next, as soon as I can justify spending more money on guns.

Relax....40 is the number one caliber used in LE today. It's one of the big 3 (9mm, 40 and 45), all of which will be around for a long time.

40 cal is an excellent round. I have 3 guns in 40 cal. Love it. It is a snappy round compared to 9 and 45. But I like the mix it gives. More rounds vs the 45 and I like the performance better than a 9.

40 short and weak, you mean? It's no good as a defense round. BGs take it and keep on coming, even if you empty the magazine into their COM. It's way too snappy. 9mm is better because you can carry more rounds. .45 is better because it has a bigger diameter. Uncontrollable and painful to shoot. It's inaccurate as heck. It'll blow up your gun every time you try to shoot it. The ammo is overpriced. You can't find the ammo. It'll kick your dog and steal your truck.

    I love my XD40 3" and 4".
Anybody got an XD40 5" or XDM? :D

    I sold my .40 P99 a year ago...

    Sold my CW-40 last fall...

I decided that I wanted to move away from that platform, that's all.

I was a .40 only guy for a long time.

Then .40 ammo seemed to get harder to find and was more expensive, and I started shooting USPSA and Steel matches with a 9mm. Ended up selling all of my .40's and went all all 9mm. It was basically an availability and expense thing for me, plus I wanted to only stockpile one round.

I personally think the .40 is the best overall PD caliber.

40 Short and Weak??? You are absolutely kidding right. I have 9's, 40's, and 357's. The 9 by far is the weakest. Where in the heck do you get your stats that BGs keep coming at you from being shot with a 40?? I'm sorry but you are way off base. As far as the ammo capacity of your gun, how many shots do you need. Some people just are terrible shots I guess:): I have a 9 with capacity of 15 or 18(Sig 226). I have a 40 with a capacity of 13(Sig 226). I will take a 40 any day of the week over a 9 in terms of stopping power. WOW 40s are short and weak. Give me a break dude!

By the way, that list of all your guns in your sig line is really impressive.:n00b:

I have XDs in 45 and 40 I got rid of all 9mm guns I like the 40 and seem to see more ammo for it than I did for 9mm If there are a lot for sale I do not think there is anything to it. as far as them becoming obsolete ?
