I have a Rock Island M1911 A1 FS In Nickel Matte.. It has these black markings on the frame on the grip, where the guy who had it before me had those rubber finger groove inserts that mount behind the grips. Well, the gun oil made the rubber "Bleed" into the nickel. Any ideas how to clean it or should i just have it duracoated/cerakoted?

Here is a pic, all ideas are appreciated...It also has the dreaded "Idiot mark"

Go to hardware/paint store and get a can of lacquer thinner or acetone. Use a rag and keep working at it. It will come off. Do not use any type of abrasive/3M/Scotchbrite pads. Just a rag.
