DC Police Employee on Concealed Carry: "The Second Amendment Was Written For When The British Were Coming" - Katie Pavlich

How to get a gun carry permit in DC - DC News FOX 5 DC WTTG

Well, Emily Miller is now trying to get a carry permit.
Some of the things the police told her......

You need to prove a specific need. Rape and robbery aren't good enough.

    and
a D.C. police department employee essentially argued that Second Amendment rights don't apply in D.C. because they were written "for when the British were coming."

On the bright side, when this is resolved in court and DC loses, it might have an effect on states with similar laws infringing on this basic human right.

Too bad people have to fight for the rights that have already been fought over.
But then, nothing really is ever decided. The fight is in constant flux.

    Where's the bacon?
I predict she will eventually get her permit, even where few others do.
I predict this is so because of the embarrassment their chief will have when she brings the public humiliation on, rather than because it's her da*n right.

They'll drag their heels some, but someone... the mayor, the chief... or eventually a judge.... will say, "Just give it to her to shut her up!"

Sad that she even has to ask permission to exercise her right.

    Blessings,
    Bill

"for when the British were coming,"

The British were already HERE. Just like the threat that we face today is already here:
    - thugs
    - terrorist
    - psychos
    - tyrannical government
    - and all the other evil people who would do us harm.

Big difference, KittySlayer. When "the British [were] coming", EVERYONE was British, which is why the actual phrase was, "The Regulars are out!"

It was, to quote Pogo, "We have met the enemy, and he is us", back then.

WE, today, are not thugs, psychos, a tyrannical gov't, evil people, or even terrorists, no matter what those in gov't would call us.

    Blessings,
    Bill

Actually, the British were already gone when the Bill Of Rights was written. That makes his reasoning even more asinine.
