IF, you could pick out the 1911 of your choice, or have built the perfect 1911, what would it be? What features, or finish would it have? What would it's primary purpose or intended use be?

This is merely a discussion and there are no right or wrong answers. Just based on personal preferences of what others like in a 1911.

Ooh, this is a good thread topic.

I kind of already have mine. DW Valor Commander with the Duty Finish. It's everything I want and nothing I don't. Clean lines, no billboard logos, tight fit and finish, steel slide and frame. Everything is snickity-snick like a recent Corvette gearbox. A close second is the DW Vigil also with the Duty Finish. I like the blacked-out rear sight with the front night sight more than I thought I would. Clean, simple, no frills, and stellar fit and finish. And it's a bit lighter than the Valor with the alloy frame.

But... my bucket list 1911 is a DW Specialist Commander with the bead-blast finish. Which is weird, I hate bead-blast finishes, they don't wear well or look good when worn. But dangit if I don't still lust after this one, it rocks me.

    Just one? That’s not fair.

I was recently lucky enough to have AllenM build my (current) perfect 1911.

Commander. Stainless. Clean slide. FO sights. Classic checkering. Proper amount of detail work.

This was it for a while untill the adjustable rear broke on me. But swap in a fixed rear sight and potentially a DLC refinish and it's perfect. Been considering having it milled for a RMR but the price is steep for a 1911.
