I feel your pain. Moved from IN to MA.Still here for family reasons.

I DID make sure I moved to a "green town". Issued the unrestrIcted class A. Process was VERY similar to IN LTCH but with the addition of a class. The crappy thing is other towns can restrict. The laws are very paraphrastic and haphazzard. For instance you can move to MA with ANY pre-1994 AWB item. ( they adopted and Romney signed a bill to make the ferderal ban permanent in MA). You can also move in with guns not on the approved handgun lis,t Rugers, Glocks, etc. You have 1 shot to do this when you move.

Idropped the military calibers a while back as I knew I would be living in a shoe box out here but you can buy new ARs and AKs as long as they only feature the the pistol grip and the hi-cap mag....mags MUST be pre-ban.

There is a watered down castle doctrine ( sorry no curtalaige for you, must warn of deadly force, must yell 'it's comin' right for us!").
At least you no longer have to jump out your window ( I hear this was the law under Dukakass)
BUT there's PIN numbers to buy handguns and must show license to buy ammo ( they do not take the number down)
Also you have to fill out a state form on all FTF transacations. But we can doit in a McDonald's parking lot just like in IN. However you need to be VERY descrete to avoid the dreaded MWAG call.

Across the border in NH not so. ( on the ammo)

If I move and stay in the same town, I will retain my unrestricted status ( only way to legally carry). If I move to a different town, maybe not.

One thing they DO have right is it's a FELONY for anyone to PUBLISH A LIST OF GUN LICENSES!!!!:rockwoot: Or any portion of it:D

For very logically stated reasons:dunno: Go figure.

OP, I actually found a public range in MA. Drop in rates and all rentals $10.

Much better deal than driving to NH.

So yes INGO MA gun laws DO suck. They even had a trigger lock on the musket as the statehouse ( proper storage and all ya know....) I think they may have changed that back though.

Hey there has been progress, the bake sale ban was over turned!!!!

And MA isn't Illinois, California, or New Jersey ( howllow points OK for home defense; felony for public defense. Must use FMJ in public. Really , yes really. Felony for each round)

You guys may see me make a strategic NH, to IN or even the relative freedom of MI move in a few years ( sooner of needed)

Yes, I was deployed to New Jersey and found out all hollow points were no go's. My AR and AK were no go's, All sorts of things were no go's there, so I looked and kept just my 1911 with ball rounds for home defense and left most the rest with family until I could get out that state. I could not leave that job or state fast enough.

Cygnus - good to hear from you! I understand the family reasons for being in Mass... but we'll take all of the cool folks back here anytime!

OP - I moved from CA to the freedom of IN about 8+ years ago. Many people here don't realize the huge difference. Vote with your feet! I did, and have no complaints.

Don't wanna **** on this party because as a former east coaster, owning a weapon seemed out of reach and I just picked up my first one from PSS. You have no idea how easy the process was. My background check took less than 5 min.
Now for the Wheaties wetter. Charles Manson and Jim Jones were from here. Maybe they were born elsewhere. I think Manson was, but the the freedom here let their crazy run free. Sometimes rules keep nuts contained. Just sayin'
Just sayin' what?. That we need more gun control, or you like the infringements as they are? Or maybe you enjoy what you consider your newfound "freedom", but are perfectly happy with "common sense" laws and "reasonable restrictions". It's thinking like this, both from Helmke/Brady types already here and others who might have moved here from socialist hellholes and bring that with 'em that keeps us from wiping out the gun control regime we do have.

OK we are just the hatchery for crazy then?
What the hell is that supposed to mean? And who is "we"?

You know, we can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans to legitimately own handguns and rifles—it's something I strongly support—we can't be so fixated on that that we are unable to think about the reality of life that millions of Americans face on streets that are unsafe, under conditions that no other nation—no other nations—has permitted to exist.
... I just hope to be able to pass the Brady bill and do some other sensible things that do not unduly infringe on the right of the law-abiding citizen to keep and bear arms, but will help make these children's future safer.
I don't believe that everybody in America needs to be able to buy a semiautomatic or an automatic weapon, built only for the purpose of killing people, in order to protect the right of Americans to hunt and to practice marksmanship and to be secure in their own homes and own a weapon to be secure. I just don't believe that.

Read more of this type of thinking here (scroll down to section on gun control legislation)

He will go with the general flow of the country. If the congress and senate are sufficiently pro 2nd, he will not attempt anything.

Hell just point him to the Harvard Gun Study by Kates and Mauser

I think there's a zero percent chance of Romney going against gun owners as President.

Does anyone else see the irony in the fact that some of the finest firearms are made in the non-free states and that their own citizens cannot even purchase them?:dunno:

    Yes!

A little company in Springfield , MA just got a HUGE tax break to stay in the sate. At minimum I know there are magazines they make that can't be bought........

In a supposedly educated, enlightened state, firearms ignorance is stunning.

Oh, yeah, I used to see "Brush your teeth" posters on the T (orange line).

My hotel shuttle was attacked was driving down the street in Back Bay. We were still rolling when they swarmed the mini-bus and whacked it with bats and poles.

My only attempted mugging (other than the police shakedown in Chicago) was in Boston Commons at 6AM.

It is not educated and it is not enlightened. It is a one party state. Like North Korea with Dunkin Donuts everywhere and you can leave, for now.
