It’s a bold title, but I believe I can make the argument hold up well if anyone wants to try and fight me on it.
    :boxing:
This is the modern Polish production of the classic Soviet PPS-43. Made by Pioneer Arms they brand this PPS-43C, configure it as a pistol, and chamber it both in 9x19 and the original 7.62x25.

I was fortunate enough to spend a range day with this 9mm pistol. First thing you’ll notice is Pioneer Arms builds these with the folding stock attached, but fixed in place. As much as I tried to unfold it, no SBR for me.

It’s still extremely cool despite being neutered by ALSO neutered bureaucrats. However it makes using the PPS-43C a bit more difficult as this is unnatural to shoot in the folded position. I found a “push pull” grip, slightly tilting to 11 o clock, and using the middle finger for the trigger was the most comfortable and effective way to use the pistol.

Despite its crude construction…the action on this pistol is surprisingly smooth. Magazines load like butter, and feed effortlessly.

I took the pistol to a modest 20 yards to get it on paper. To my frustration, couldn’t hit paper. Shortened the distance and found that the sights were very far off. Front sight elevation had to be spun up a lot to get on paper at 15 yards. There is no windage adjustment and this pistol will permanently shoot left as the factory did not get alignment correct.

It takes some getting used to but this pistol is a lot of fun to shoot and the recoil feels less than an AR9 or similar modern blowback. Very soft shooting.

It won’t win any PCC or beauty competitions but for collectors and history enthusiasts, I think the PPS-43C hits the spot. Especially for the $599 price tag. It gets a recommend from me one so long as one understand it’s sighting and accuracy limitations.

It’d be great to hear other INGOers experiences with these guns down below.

That would be fun to add to the collection just as a conversation piece. I've spent more money on dumber stuff and came away without even so much as a story to tell. That's cheaper than taking the family to a Colts game.
