Years ago, I had a Marlin 336 in .30-30, and I stupidly traded it off about ten years ago. To try and replace it now, would run me about 700 dollars or so. I really want that gun back, in the same caliber.

    Live and learn.
I think it would be more than that to replace now, especially if it was a J.M. stamped barrel.
To get a new "Marlin" now you'd need to go Ruger and I don't think you'll get a Ruger Marlin in any caliber for $700.

You're right Mgderf; they are very expensive if you can even FIND one. All most 2 years ago now, I found my first J.M. stamped Marlin 336 in .30-30 for $850. It was a 1979 model, no cross bolt safety and very clean. I hadn't seen one at my LGS for years and didn't own any at the time so I bought it!

I can see where you're coming from now rugertoter, they are great shooters and I won't be selling mine!

Now, I'm on the lookout for a nice lever action in .357/.38...those are rare finds also.

I has the sads because I have no lever gun. One of these days I'll budget for one.

@Noble Sniper That thing looks wicked, I'll bet it's got some kick.

If only I could get some LRMP's to reload some S&W .500's, I loaded up 50 rounds in new brass for my GFs son who has a S&W 500 revolver. Bough 100 primers right before everything disappeared. The other 50 primers went into some 6.5cm loads that don't need magnum but I didn't know I'd never see LRMPs again.

That thing is awesome, and just begs for a X-Frame to keep it company! What's the recoil like? Does the base of the skinner sight extending out over the ejection port interfere with ejection at all?

Thank you gentleman. I’ve shot many a big bore rifle so I don’t think this will be anything but pleasant manageable. The Skinner sight is what BHA puts on them so I don’t see an issue. Have not shot it yet. Ordered 500 rounds of Underwood 440gr hardcast which was delivered yesterday so hopefully soon I’ll send a few of those trash cans down range lol!!! Agin thank you :))
