Just straight wheel weights or did you alloy them with anything? How long did it take you and what was your process? I have about 40 pounds of WW that I need to ingots.
Wolfhound,
Yes sir, Lee ingot mold that makes two one pound and two half pound ingots and an old cast iron cornbread pan.
TweakD4,
Straight wheel weights here. I'll alloy it with Linotype in the next melt, if need be. These will be used for standard velocity pistol bullets, so straight wheel weights are usually fine.
I was using a propane burner for heat. Running a lead thermometer so that I could catch any Zinc weights that were missed in the initial sorting. Skimmed off the metal clips. Fluxed with Pine saw dust and then poured the ingots.
This batch took a couple of hours from setup to cool down.
My brother used up all our ingots, He bought a master caster and has been busy. I have enough 45Colt to last the next year, enough 9mm for me for the next year, enough 38's for both of us for the next year. He's going to do a butt load of 9mm for him and enough 45ACP for the both of us.
This is really neat! I have bunch of copper wire left over from when we finished inside of a building. I want to sort of do the same thing melting them and making little ingots or something!
