Coming up on 14 years of carrying. I applied for my ltch the day after I turned 18.

The first handgun I owned was a Rossi .38spl. Traded that in towards a Ruger Security Six. Traded that for a Speed Six. From there it gets pretty fuzzy....In no particular order, I've carried Charter Arms .38 and .44 specials, Bersa .380, Ruger LCR, Ruger LC9, Taurus TCP, Glock 19, Glock 43X, and probably several others I can't remember. I currently carry either a Kel-Tec P32 or Bersa BP9cc depending on the situation.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that it is very hard to pick one gun and stick to it when there are so many options out there.

Man, I'm glad I'm not alone in "the search". This is embarrassing but I've carried a gen 1 shield, 3 Glock 19's, M and P 3.6 compact, and currently on my second Glock 43x. Oh and a CZ P07. I now know having a good holster and belt is half the battle for carrying anything. I think I'll probably stick with 43x at least for a little longer. Why am I always wanting something else? Now I'm eyeing a Shadow Systems MR920. Maybe there's no hope for me, not sure.

If we're talking CC, I'm a 9mm guy so I have carried a Bersa BP9CC for a number of years. I picked up an used M&P Shield but never carried it mostly because I couldn't tell much benefit plus it had a Crimson Trace laser sight that complicated it fitting into my preferred CC holster. Recently I picked up a new Springfield Hellcat and am very happy with it for comfort, capacity and accuracy. Opted for the thumb safety but not the optics just because of the comfort and concealability.

Beyond CC, I'm a big fan of Springfield and CZ overall - just personal preference.

In the 20+ years I've been carrying, here's the order.

    Taurus PT-111
    Rock Island 3" 1911
    Keltec PF-9
    XDm 5.25
    S&W 3913
    Springfield 4" XDs

    I've also had a 642 and a
    .327 LCR for a second/pocket gun.

The XDs gets the duty 95% of the time. I'll carry the XDm on occasion.
You and I have about the same start and end point.

I started with the Taurus PT111 [1st run] until the frame cracked while shooting. Several tries afterwards. Now, an XDS 9mm getting the majority of the duty work. Some others sprinled in here and there.

The XDS 9mm 3.3 made me happy enough to say I'll never need to buy another sub compact. Damn it, now after having a Canik I'm thinking I should pick up the Canik SC.

Remington-rand .45ACP, WWII Colt 1911, Mismatched U.S. N. issued 1911, Colt 70 1911, Colt Officers .45 ACP 1911, S&W 640-1, Colt Rail Gun 1911 in .45 ACP, STI 2011 6" 10mm, Sig 229 in 9mm, Berreta .380, Colt Hammerless 1903 in .32ACP. or sometimes a 2nd gen Colt 1851 Navy .36 or a 3rd gen Colt 5 1/2" SAA in .44 WCF with a 1903 backup. This is about a 68 year progression where sometimes it was legal and sometimes not. And yes the Remington-Rand was legal to carry at 8 years old!

It has all been a blur for so long...

Some of what I've actually carried: H&K VP70, S&W Sigma, Ruger SP101, Glock 22, Almost every M&P semi-auto variant, Ruger LCP, Bersa Thunder, a couple 1911s, Armalite AR-24 (CZ75 Clone), Ruger LCR, Sig P238, SA XDm, Ruger GP100, Walther PPQ, and maybe a couple more that I'm forgetting...

My Current Favorite for the last couple of years has been the M&P40 2.0 Compact:

Lots of years and too many carried to list. The journey is fun and educational. Pretty much ended up back where I started. I like my airlite J frame Snubbie for drinking coffee on the front porch, and other light duty, and one of my 1911's for everything else.

Like many here, all over the place. First "Carry gun" was a CPX2, since then I've had many.
Currently, for the pocket, I use a Kahr CT380, otherwise I keep a Makarov handy

    Taurus 85--> S&W Mdl 36--> Keltec P11--> S&W Mdl 640--> CZ82--> Kahr P9--> Ruger LCP Custom & Kahr CT9.

The CZ82, Ruger LCP and Kahr CT9 are all three in my CCW rotation. If I am just bumbling around the local area or riding my bike, the LCP rides along. Trips to the big city, the CZ82 or Kahr CT9 is my choice.

My Kahr P9 now resides in Alaska as my go to town pistol.

I know many will scoff at the CZ82, but twelve rounds of 9mm Makarov in a platform that I practice with and shoot very well is comforting.

I've had 5 of the 8 guns you've had & still have 3 that are close models.
I think you'd love the Kimber 6s that is a 6 rd with the cylinder width the same as a J frame.

I looked at that one and it does seem like a good firearm. Maybe down the road I will pick one up.

I still have my S&W 640 along with the four others mentioned above. It just stays in the house now.

Glock 19 C, trading off and on with a Ruger GP100
Ruger Model 85 for when deep carry was required.
    Hk USP LEM 40 S&W
    Glock 19 C, again
    S&W Model 642-replaced my Model 85
HK VP9, with using a Glock 20 SF for winter carry
Hk P30 LEM plus the same Glock 20 for winter.

The only 2 things don't still have are the Hk 40 and the 85.
Barrel flip on the USP was just to much for me.

Anyone using the Kimber R7 Mako 9mm Optics Ready Micro Compact Pistol with 11rd & 3.37 barrel?
This week one sold through the Classifieds, asking $480.
    Rural King
had a special going this past week for $529.98.
    Interesting.
If I hadn't already settled on & happy with the SW MP Shield Plus Performance Center
I picked up 5 months ago,
I'd want to try it out.
    I am curious.

My story is pretty unremarkable. I turned 18, applied for a carry permit (in person using a paper application and ink fingerprints) with my parents (they paid for it for my birthday) then bought a 642 and Kel-Tec P3at in a package deal. The Kel-Tec is long gone but I've carried the 642 ever sense. Wore the original grips off of it and finally had to buy wooden replacement grips when I couldn't take the black tape holding the rubber ones together anymore. I've almost wore the finish off of it but it still locks up tight and is my go to for everyday carry.

I also have a Ruger Redhawk 8 shot that goes with me on long car trips and is my nightstand gun and occasionally open carry my heritage arms in .357 but my 642 always goes as well. I recently purchased a LCRx with a 3-inch barrel to take on hikes; however, the 642 will likely be in my pocket as well.

    Davis P-.380?
    Glock 19
    Glock 21
    Ruger SP-101
Colt Pocket Mustang .380-(wish I hadn`t sold this one)
    Glock .380
I had a Colt Mustang for over 30 yrs.
Never enjoyed shooting it, but it made for a nice small CC.
Bought it standing in a long line to go into a gun show at State Fairgrounds over 34 yrs ago.
    $275 (I think) with 5 mags & original box.

Your comment, "Pretty much ended up back where I started," evoked the same thoughts.
I have an Ruger LCR & SW J frame & Kahr & Shield after cycling through many other similar types & some not so similar before coming back to what I'd owned yrs prior.
But, as you said, "The journey is fun and educational."

    At the Ranch.
Currently Walther P99c. Mix in a HK P2000sk or a .357 snubby. Springfield XDe for a while after they came out. P229 in 357Sig a few years ago. .22WMR snubby if I go to the woods or around the yard.

I do seem to always circle back to the P99c though.
