Ruger 10/22 is always the first choice in .22 unless you're looking for something out of the gate that will shoot sub MOA. If you're just looking for durability the Ruger is first.

CZ 452 bolt action hands down. Feeds and functions all 22lr. 5 or 10 shot mag option. Adjustable sights out to 200 yards. For iron sights you can't beat the accuracy of their 452 trainer model. Scope the American or Silhouette models and you have a dime killer. At a cost of about $275 out of the box they are quite capable and in my opinion they are among the most durable you can find.

marlin mod 60 love mine my buddys have 10-22 and get mad because they have to shoot good prem ammo in theirs to get it to cycle and i can shoot the cheap stuff with no problem. Plus they have not put high dollar barrels or trigers on theirs so my good old cheap(60.00 dollars at kmart years ago) mod 60 shoots just as good of a group as their high dollar ( 150.00 at wally world few years ago) 10-22's.

Since we are going with reliability and ability to shoot a variety of ammo, I would have to say a model 39. I have one that my grandfather bought for my dad, and he gave it to me. It will shoot shorts, longs, and long rifles, and does so very well.

Marlin Model 60. Never really have to be cleaned. You can abuse the crap out of them and they come back for more. First rifle I ever owned and will never get rid of it!!

hmmm, im not sure im digging the tubular magazine on the Marlin 60. I'm seeing Savage 64's for around the same price as the Marlin but there is only 10 round magazines available, nothing larger than that.

    Winchester 68!!!:rockwoot:

My preferences are in this order, Win. Mod. 68, Stevens 15-A, Marlin 39A, Marlin 60, NEF Sportster, Ruger 10/22, and Rem. 522. All will shoot Shorts, longs, long rifles even though the 10/22 and 522 weren't designed to function with shorts.

I prefer the 68, 15, and Sportster over the others because they are simply built rifles and can still be fired if they experince trigger parts failures.

Due to the ammo requirements specified in the thread I will vote for the Remington Speedmaster.
I've had 1 since the late 60's and picked up another in the mid 70's and couldn't even guess the amount of ammo through each- many .22 shorts which meets the posters requirements.
