What is this on my boat motor?!?

1999 Johnson 9.9hp. What is this sticking out of the twist throttle and what does it do? Thanks!

I am guessing a throttle lock for setting your trolling speed. Twist the throttle about half way then tighten the knob and see if it locks the throttle to where you have it set.

That's the stop switch I believe. The idle adjustment is at the end of the handle.

Not the kill switch, that we know. The twist knob out of the end is what we are unsure of.

That's the idle adjustment. Older models had it on the engine housing. Adjust from rich to lean to smooth out the idle/trolling speed

Same here.. guess we can still hope for the self destruct button option/ejection seat for unruly people.... James Bond all the way..

That would be a "kill switch" that stops the engine if the black part is pulled off from the red part. The black part should be attached to the driver by a lanyard in case the driver is ejected from the boat.
