Keep hearing about it and have been invited in the past. What exactly is it and how does it work?

Like everyone else told me, bring a gun, come have some fun. You'll learn as you go.

Friday Night Steel at Marion County Fish & GAme Association is a match where shooters shoot at groupings of steel plates called a stage. There are usually 4 or 5 stages at each match. Under the command of a range officer, a shooter shoots the plates while being timed. Times are recorded and compiled, then published. It is an excellent introduction to competitive action shooting. USPSA, IDPA and official Steel Challenge matches are a little more complicated as they incorporate drawing from the hip and moving - but these occur at ranges farther away from urban areas.

Another introduction to shooting reactive targets is our Bowling Pin Matches. Friday Night Steel is more complicated than pins, and had more shooters in attendance. Friday Night Steel is great fun. Carefull, you may find it addictive.

I would say it's like USBSA matches. . . But, that prolly wouldn't make since. You have five stages. Three strings on each stage. you're shooting for time. Your targets are steel plates and some usbsa targets. each stage has a diffrent setup. (p.s. whoever wrote "was das ist friday night steel". it's "Was ist Freitag nacht steel ist?" Sorry. ocd)

Tell me about it. Lowered blood pressure 20 points partially by not being that way so much. Sometimes, though, it just comes out. Have been advised to switch to decaf.

Back on topic...People who live in that area are fortunate to have this opportunity. Bangin' on steel is much fun and a great release. Never been to FNS, but have my own, plus friends' (plates and poppers).
