    I got a Ward Western Field 93M-491A Rifle .
I was wondering if anyone knew much about the history of theses guns.
Belongs to a buddy who dropped it off for a good cleaning.
We are both curious about the history of the gun.
    Thanks in advance.

Yep, Westernfield was the hardware store name for Mossberg back in the day.
They were sold at Montgomery Wards for one.
My first 12ga pump was a Monkey Wards Westernfield (Mossberg 500)

You're right. My dad has a Westernfield 500 12 gauge he bought at Monkeywards when he worked there in the early 70's.

Those old Mossberg .22s tend to be very accurate if they weren't abused. The barrels were lead lapped and most of the triggers were pretty nice.
