To the members of USPSA Area 6.
I have spoken with people that I trust and respect their views.
In review it appears that I have fallen short in safeguarding the trust and duties place with me in this sport.
    I apologize for those shortcomings.*
I accept the full responsibility for my shortcomings, as well as, any pain or embarrassment caused.
I have resigned my membership in this great organization.
At some point in my future I hope to rebuild that trust.
    Humbly Submitted,
    Paul Hendrix

    This
Here is a cut and paste of the stuff that has been pulled together and on doodie

There's no way the BoD doesn't issue a permaban on Paul Hendrix.

I'm more concerned that those that benefited from his cheating are not going to be investigated adequately to determine if they were aware of him cheating.

Therefore, I propose that Doodie crowd source this investigation and see if we can determine exactly who Hendrix helped and who he hurt. I think we collectively have more brain power, and more importantly, more time and internet savvy than 10 USPSA boards.

I know people have submitted those complaint forms to USPSA, but we don't know how comprehensive those complaints are. We should compile a coherent document that we can submit to the Board. The board isn't going to weed through 30 pages of inside jokes and newbie introductions.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

People that appear to have benefited from Paul Hendrix:
(Disclaimer: it's not known if the following people were aware of what Hendrix was doing.)

Again, we aren't making a judgement but rather trying to get to the depths of the cheating and determine if those Hendrix helped knew anything about it.

If you have names to add, cut and paste the list above and add to the names in a new post. Add Youtube links, too, if you can. I'm going to add Youtube links when I get more time. If someone beats me to it, that's great. I suggest downloading/ripping any video you see. Also, correct any errors you see (just make a note of the change when you correct something) This can be a Wikipedia-style effort

I'm PO'd that HQ/BoD is just letting him say "you caught me, I quit" and washing their hands of it. They still need to ban him along w/ a statement that that behavior will always be dealt w/ switftly and harshly. Odds are his buddies are very glad USPSA is done following through on this...

Where did you hear that USPSA is not following through with this? Just because he's trying to walk away doesn't mean the BoD is finished either. Like you said, it would be silly to stop there. Hell, what would prevent him from quietly re-entering the scene in a few years?

Huge USPSA Cheating Scandal - Page 59 - USPSA Shooting - Invision Power Board
    From Facebook Area 6 page:

Charles Bond An admission of guilt is not important to our sport and had I been advising him as his attorney I would have advised him not to make one. There is nothing set out in our rules about burning anything at the stake or administering lashes since we have authority only over members. He is no longer a member so at least as to Paul, the USPSA process is concluded.

You can say what you want about Paul Hendrix but he has done a very honorable thing by his act of resigning saving our sport from having to deal with a potentially long and difficult process. I appreciate his courage and unselfish contribution in so doing.

I'm also PO'd that this is being handled via non-USPSA-HQ facebook social media. USPSA has their own facebook account and mailing lists and website... use it. It's like their affraid to dirrectly associate this to the org.

When pro sports have major issues ('roids, gambling, etc), they issue press releases, they don't stick their fingers in their ears (or elsewhere) and sing "la lalala".

What? How is it "honorable"? Honorable would have been not cheating. Semi-honorable would have been to stop cheating along the way because he knew it was wrong and turned himself in, and then resigned. This resignation is not what I would consider honorable.

I agree with rvb that this should not be over and USPSA should formally ban him.

Wonder where Paul will be shooting next weekend unclassified as "Phil Henderson"?

Why would he need to change his name if he's not banned from shooting uspsa matches? You don't have to be a member to shoot level 1s. All he did is "resign" his membership and HQ has just taken away his RO certs. This is why HQ needs to make him un-welcome...

As I am new to USPSA and only shoot level one matches. I am not a RO so I can't comment on that. But I have written the times down and used a NOOK. The RO has always called the time out and shown me the timer. Why wasn't this RO showing the timer to the score keeper? To hide the fact he was reading off times that are incorrect? This is a black eye to our sport. I hate to see if someone goes the other direction with my score and add time to my score... I'm slow enough with out their help LOL I hope that USPSA gets this all figured out RO

If the RO wants to screw you, he can. A tap on the timer 2 seconds after your last shot will register as a "shot", so him showing you the timer only helps solidify the belief that there's no way he cheated you because you saw the timer. Of course this is an extreme example, but I want to get across the point that just because you saw the timer doesn't mean you saw your time. I've seen it happen unintentionally many times. Your last piece of brass goes flying and just happens to hit the timer. Every time I've see that happen, the RO has been aware of it and reviewed the timer for the correct time.

My point it, cheating doesn't happen often. You're talking about one RO out of thousands. Don't let the actions of one taint the rest. Remember, these guys aren't even getting paid. They do it for the love of the sport!

Well this sucks. I saw the thread header " Uspsa cheating issue" and thought this was the guide on how to cheat for the shooter not the RO.
Now I'll just have to keep winging it or maybe I'll start a new thread and ask how the best way to cheat is for the shooter. ;)

    To the membership of USPSA,

Recently, I was presented with a complaint regarding a USPSA certified Range Officerwho was falsifying times during sanctioned USPSA competitions. Needless to say, thiswas a significant allegation that the entire USPSA Board of Directors took very seriously.

A number of videos started to come in, and I assigned the Area 1 Director to examine allof the evidence that was available. He reviewed countless videos and conducted several interviews with some of the shootersand the accused official. It was finally determined that the accused RO did indeed falsify the times that were displayed on the timer, both by adding and removing seconds.

Additionally, it was discovered that the RO acted alone, and there was no knowledge ofhis actions by any of the competitors who did or did not benefit from the fabricated times.

Shortly after the Area 1 Director’s report, I issued a suspension letter to the accused Range Officer. His membership will be terminated, and he will be placed on the disavowed list for life. His actions betrayed the trust that was expected of him not only as a member of USPSA, but also as a certified Chief Range Officer. They are unacceptable and have certainly brought discredit to USPSA.

I would like to thank those of you who brought this to our attention. I would also encourage everyone to remember to support your organization by upholding the honesty and integrity that we expect from every member of USPSA. We are a strong family of 30,000 members…members who will continue to help USPSA thrive and put this unfortunate incident behind them.

    Sincerely,
    Phil Strader

Safety issues aside, preventing participation in level 1 matches gets philosophical and how much you hammer the guy for getting busted on media that makes for good viewing seems philosophical too.

With 30,000 members & many non-member participants you have likely got two or three hundred folks (1% guess, seems very conservative) that have done much worse things than fudging times a bit and would make the accused look like a saint in comparison.

    Just sayin.

I think you're missing the big picture here. I don't really see how there could possibly be a "philosophical" discussion on whether he needs to be punished. He cheated. And if that isn't enough, he cheated at major matches that actually had payouts of value. His cheating directly impacted the outcome of major matches over the course of at least 6 years. As far as I'm concerned, this is as far from philosophical as a discussion can get. I'm not going to make any "I am the 99%" jokes here, but I really do fail to see what some other perceived 1% of cheaters has to do with the one who was caught, investigated, and punished.
