As a side note, I cringe every time I see some of these commercials for home delivery of groceries. Not "Kroger" type groceries... I mean like Hungry Root. The commercials typically show young people, probably just starting out, or maybe still in college or something, stocking their fridge with all this stuff and I just think, "I wonder how much they paid for THAT", when they could have gone to a regular grocery store or Aldi's and gotten it for a fraction of the price that they probably paid.
This^^^ One of the nicknames for Whole Foods is 'Whole Paycheck'

Blaming others for bad decisions and wanting to use the force of state to plunder others for help has a very long history.
Well this expecting a basic fast food job to earn someone a living wage is pretty new.

Apparently there is quite a few people who want to stop treating entry level jobs as entry level. Instead they are trying to encourage people to look at these jobs as long-term employment.

I think PPP program and other business stimulus in 2020 solidly established that there is little to no risk to business owners anymore. Those that closed or complained they were being run under either failed to do the paperwork to get literal free money or failed to pivot their business model to thrive in the new situation like their competitor.
Did you ever have to get ppp funds? Do you run a business? It is not just filling out "paperwork" you have to show loss of income 30% on P&L sheets and bank statements.

Im not for goverment giving this money away but when goverment forces my business to close for 8 weeks and lets walmart stay open that f***** p***** me off. But yet i have no risk? Thats laughable.

Since they made me close for said covid scamdemic then they will pay for it.

    What kind of work?

    In general, steel mill.
More specifically, maintenance. Electrical or Mechanical.
Production people have to be trained for their machine or process.
But maintenance has to know at least the basics, before working or training.

Apparently, huge machinery, loud noises, and heat, scare the trainees in the week safety class. Maybe it's one week. Don't know. They didn't have it when I started.
But too many noobs getting injured.

I seem to recall this taking off under Billy Jeff Clinton, exporting really good jobs, replacing them with minimum wage jobs, and crowing about 2 (minimum wage) jobs being created for every (good, that you can support a family with) job lost. As a result people latched onto the idea that these "fabulous" new jobs should support a family.

Restaurant revitalization program grants for amount equal to 2019 revenue. No repayment required

Covid impact loans: rates lower than my mortgage may be forgivable with proper paperwork abd

Employee retention tax credit: 28k a year per employee tax credit if you experience 20% decline in revenue. Free money

And let’s not forget the PPP. 10 mil limit on first draw 2 mil on second. Forgivable (free money) in full if used for payroll, rents, utilities, and a whole bunch more.

now the individual got a couple grand.they were told to live on their savings, Less than 10% income replacement really. I’m still waiting for my 100k individual protection loan forgivable if I use for rent, food, utilities or my loan to renovate my house that’s forgivable. businesses were handed out free money at a level that they love to say is socialism if given to individuals.

the government forced most families to make one parent stay home. No daycare, no schools. They effectively closed down 1/2 of my income. I got pennies in return.

do I run a business? Yes I run one with p/l responsibility and own my own small business as well. The difference in my attitude is that I can open my eyes and see the difference in treatment of effected individuals and businesses by gov without my bias.

individuals have risk. .gov literally said if you don’t have savings then you can just starve while you wait for food stamps to get approved.

who thinks income replacement loans to individuals that are forgivable if used for rent, food are socialism???? If that’s socialism then why should businesses get it?

Stock market doesn’t care about jobs reports because the fed has been buying (ETF’s) since mid 2020. Fed couldn’t let public companies fail so during the crash they bought ETF’s that then bought stocks and stopped the crash.

where does everyone think all that newly printed money went?

the system is rigged in favor of businesses, to hell with the individual. All the smart people who went short the market before covid became official got rug pulled because the government changed the rules in favor of business. Nothing has changed. That’s why spy is 422 instead of 120.

I would take a step back and ask where the Constitution authorizes any of this including businesses being shut down by the .gov.

Individuals w2 employess in this " Pandemic" qualified for 600$ + 390$ unemployment sitting at home for months. What do you mean non business owners getting nothing? As of now some people are still getting 700 bucks a week sitting at home for over a year!!!

Lets go ahead ahead and get that 15$ dollar minimum wage and see your value meal go from 6$ to 10$. It will be passed onto the consumer is all that will happen.
