An RO is good for getting the matter on the record, but when push comes to shove it is useless. Best to have a strong self defense plan ready to go at the same time the RO is requested.
Definitely not worth much for protection, but it expedites the eviction from down the road to NOW.

I may be wrong but I don't think filing for divorce is enough to get a restraining order, unless you're talking about the type that protects assets.

It is his home so he would have to be evicted, and having done that I know it could take quite some time.

My daughter attempted to file a restraining order against her ex when she thought he was stalking her. She didn't get it.

And yes, that prompted some sneaky unrelated retaliation, (that involved me.)

Better be sure of your actions and anticipate the results. I'm not saying don't do it, but keep in mind the repercussions of a restraining order. One of which most of us could relate to is that a restraining order fools with, if not eliminates your ability to carry.

One thing you cannot escape is that a restraining order is affirming to the other party that they are in a fight. What they do with that knowledge should be anticipated. They may fight back, in whatever way they can.
