Well, they are foreign soldiers in the US for training.

I barely know where Indianapolis is. It's too far south to really worry about.

That's what they call the 100 block of South Meridian I think. It's been a high crime area for at least 10-12 years. I used to have to walk from where I worked to where I parked at 2-3am and walked down that area. Stepping over blood puddles or around taped off areas wasn't unusual.

I saw Hogsett say that downtown was "just as safe as any other neighborhood in Indy." I would say that's the problem.

My wife had business meetings this week in downtown Indy, so I just happened to be in a nearby hotel and heard all of the sirens. There were so many sirens I thought there must have been a huge fire.

My wife's business, which is headquartered downtown, was already considering moving all meetings to the Keystone/Carmel area. Downtown Indy is soon going to be a ghost-town due to the failure to deal with the crime driving all of the convention business away.

On a side note: getting shot downtown while in town for urban conflict training is pretty much the definition of ironic.

I'd say the training may not have been as effective as it could have been.

This could be interesting now that the White House is apparently involved in the investigation.
This morning's news stated there were no witnesses.
One would think that a downtown hotel would have multiple cameras that would have recorded the entire event.

I bet what happened was 3 Dutch SF Soilders kick the s#!t outta some local yutes after a confrontation and then decided they best get back to there room. Meanwhile yutes retrieve AK47 from trunk of yutemobiel and while heading back to bar where it all started was a WTF DER DAY IS and the shooting starts. If they stayed at the bar this may have been a mass shootings story.
