Incredible. How many times do the requests of special operation units need to be denied before the people in charge learn? In 1993, TF Ranger had requested an AC-130 gunship for it's operations in Mogadishu. It was denied, and we all know how that turned out.
For those of you interested, Robin Moore wrote a book "The Hunt for Bin Laden" that has some excellent info on this very topic. The guy that did this interview "Dalton Fury" (some fake name!) is listed in Moore's book as well, although be a different name. Another good one is "Masters of Chaos" by Linda Robinson. It is more of a history of SF, but details alot on Afghanistan.
