    Yup. The data is still there it just doesn't really have a label anymore. So just remember kids when you wipe a hard drive the only way to get rid of the data is to rewrite over the entire thing.
    Denny alert .. it depends.

    Modern SSDs do wipe “reset to zero” when the TRIM command runs.

    And “secure erase” changes the key for the encrypted drive on spinners .. had been available since early 2k. While technically data is there, 256 bit encryption without the key is effectively wiped.
