For the ignorant among us, I see what looks like a burl veneer piece screwed to cherry. The entire instrument finished in well polished polyester. Does the burl piece serve a function or is it decoration? I know nothing about guitars except how to finish them out.

It's actually an Alder body w high gloss finish .....with an attached hard maple neck, with a satin finish. Any burl is just a bonus !

Oh, I see Leadeye....... what you're calling burl is actually the 3-ply synthetic pickguard that's screwed onto the body of the guitar !

I don’t know anything about music but Prince’s overall musical contributions would seem to indicate he has talents even above the most talented. Like his music or not….dude seems to have more of “it” than most anyone.

Great song.

Not sure I should admit this but I owned that exact car/color (baby **** yellow) in 1976. Fun to drive, iffy build quality even for the 1970s.
