I'm looking for a good all around survival guide that has medical remedies and plant guides in it. Basically something that talks about how to field dress game to how to patch yourself up when the game isn't dead...lol. Would also like it to include herbal remedies and plant identification.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Look for a FM 21-76, Army field manual. They're about $6 online and covers everything you've asked.

Do a simple search under Tom Brown, on google he has some great stuff. Read his fiction stuff too, its awesome!

Those are good books. I had a lot of those when I was younger but somehow through the years they have disappeared. I did manage to find a new one at a Barnes & Noble recently and should get the remaining ones.

Check out this link for free survival .pdf book downloads. One of them is the FM 21-76 Army field manual. Others include lock picking, building your own generator, boobytraps, etc...Some are rough scans of original books, but readable.

Link is broken! Looks like the page has been removed. Maybe the books listed there were not supposed to be free? :dunno:

Here is a very good book written in a no BS style. The author has an interesting sense of humor, which is found throughout the book and I have say I enjoy reading it. It is a thick book of over 600 pages and covers a wide range of material from a common sense approach.

(9780762433582): Mykel Hawke: Books[/ame]

I've read several books on the topic and this one ranks right up there with useful information.

And... the price is very reasonable.

    Highly recommend it.
