    Stop-and-frisk: A needed reality - Chicago Tribune

It's all about the guns. Don't worry about your rights, safety is far more important.

It's time for Chicago to be proactive and courageous.
    Yes, goose-stepping into the future.

I am proposing the stop-and frisk strategy not because I like it or don't recognize the larger social problems [like the 4th Amendment, a problem] at play, but because we must solve this problem now and I have seen no other solution that works. The price of doing nothing is more dead young people.
Amazing. Yes, do away with the Constitution, that will solve everything. Until it doesn't. Then what?

What's that old saying about giving up liberty for security? :noway:

I appreciate how she likens walking down the street to passing through airport security. Yes, those two acts are exactly the same.

So much fail, and this is an elected politician sworn to uphold the Constitution?

Someone was sleeping in civics class. Someone needs a new career path, perhaps dog-catcher?

It's been a reality in NYC for quite a while and Chicago's top Cop, McCarthy had a hand in it when he was there.
I don't doubt that will take some guns off the streets, but what I see is a long list of illegal search and seizure court dismissals that will put the 'bangers back on the street and the street soldier that picks them up at Cook County jail will most probably have a new 'gat ready and waiting.

If stop and frisk is okay, why not simply stop vehicles and search the occupants (and vehicle)?

Indianapolis had the 'drug/gun checkpoints' a few years back and the SCOTUS struck it down. But this doesn't get review?

Until someone is snarred that isnt a gang member, it probably wont be challenged passed the local court level. I doubt the NRA or any of the other Pro-2A organizations will be very keen to appear to be 'sticking up for the criminals'. The ACLU might jump in though.

If the ACLU doesn't jump in, they should burn their own membership cards.

Right on center, but I saw an opportunity for a small tweak in a great post!

Over 20 years ago I knew this day was coming. The day when the political advocates of "privacy" abandon it.

I knew it was phony then, my education proved it over and over. The professors and its strongest advocates were merely riding it as a war horse against the existing order.

The right to privacy was never a right, it was merely a stalking horse to advance an agenda.
