Doesn't Disney own the rights to the Marvel movies? Those did a complete 180 from crap to gold.

Disney bought Marvel in 2009, after Marvel started producing its own movies. They don't own the rights to many of the characters for film purposes though as there were pre-existing movies deals for Spiderman, Xmen, and several others, and that does cause issues for crossover activity with those characters (wouldn't it be awesome to see Spiderman web slinging through an Avengers movie, or a Secret Wars or Civil War based movie story line) . However, Marvel (now owned by Disney) does still own the rights to many characters and got smart and rather than piecing them out to other movie studios can do crossovers, etc with those characters. That is why they were able to pull off the Iron Man, Captain America, crossing story lines and pull it together in the Avengers.

And hopefully this Star Wars episode will rock. I'd really love to see some old Republic, and Sith era stuff, as well as some of the Legacy era stuff brought to the big screen. I personally find the books of those eras to be the best.
