    Went to Texas for vacation, picked up a Spandau 88/05 with matching numbers in an Arkansas pawn shop. It’s a sweet shooter.

    Looks like a nice one, matching numbers is pretty unusual for one that went to Turkey. Great find!

    I'm not a mil-surp guy... But I've been a "gun guy" for nigh-on 20 years now. And I don't think I've ever even HEARD of a Spandau! Nifty.

    Spandau was the arsenal where it was made.


    The Gew 88 contract rifles were also made by Steyr. I have one from there dated 1890.
