Sure looks like one. Its belly has a checkerboard pattern.

I'm no expert but it looks a lot like that milk snake picture. It's not poisonous but that's a big snake to be found in a house!

It also looks like it might have just eaten a mouse by the bulge in it's belly.

The pic makes it look bigger than it is. It was only a little more than a foot long. I think you are right. It looks like a mouse had a bad day.

It's either an Eastern Milk snake or a Western Fox Snake. Not sure how far the Fox snake range goes south. Pupils look dilated. Dead?

If you just ate a critter bigger around than your normal girth, your eyes would glass-over also and it would be nap-time !

Of course, my friend is a female, and we all know the measurement she gave could be wrong. That's because females are told all their adult lives that 6 inches is 12!
