Had my gunsmith give it a trigger job, and I added a new recoil spring, and titanium extractor. Also a Tactical Solutions extended magazine release. That's it for my rifle.

Reworked a factory stock someone here on INGO was so gracious to give me.
Bedded the action, adding a pillar, contoured the barrel channel for a Feddersen tapered barrel, cut the snout off and added a piece of walnut, cut the rear of the buttstock and added a piece of walnut an recoil pad to lengthen the LOP and stuck a buttcap on...well...just because.

Installed a Kidd trigger group after my Brimstone one ended up being a dismal failure.

Put a Vortex 2-7 scope on it. It shoots well.

My old target rig. GM heavy taper 19" w Volq hammer and Titan stock.
Put SK match at .4 at 50 yards (5 shots).
Hated the vertical grip so parted it out.

The old fingergrooves are my fave.
Have had a couple, one factory checkered (too nice to hunt with, did .75" w just a Volq hammer swap running CCI Blazer- 50 yards for 5 shots)

Think an old fingergroove w a GM reg 20" sporter bbl would be cool.
Could not find one for over a yr (blued) and w factory bbl this one shot like crap.
So dumped it, even after getting stock issues resolved.

Had a 67 standard, refinished stock (decent wood) and it too was horrible.
Over time that Overton (no pun intended) stock must have warped in vertical.
    YUGE forend pressure.
Took that down and it improved a bunch, was back to normal 10/22 mediocrity.

Love how folks say the "old ones" were better, or great shooters, bone stock.
Amazing how so many got good ones, and they still shoot "lights out" 40 plus yrs later.

Having had 5 of the old ones (pre 72) and having only 2 that shot decent, w trigger jobs...........I'm
kinda starting to question such internet/gun shop tales LMAO

BTW, the best shooting factory ones I've had? Both fingergrooves.
I had a reg SP that did OK group wise, but it would shift. Missed a chuck w it and got so mad I sold it.

My ol lady has a 50th anniv blued/grey lam and w a hammer swap it actually does OK.
One of the better stock models w barrel band Ive seen.
Its still no tack driver, but w RDS it does good enough.

Here is another of my Ruger disappointments, the sporter that could have been a project rig.........but Covid/whatever killed supply issues and as is, it was a chunk of dog doo.

Shame, it was beat up enough to be a hunting rig. 1022sp.jpg

If Ruger did a synth copy of the old fingergroove stock, that'd be a BUY and BUILD to a hunting rig for me. I dunno how the McMillan stock feels in comparison.

Urban Rifle Supply used to make wood repros, could get for the funky factory swivel set or without. Without (use standard stud/swivels) would be sweet.

They havent done any in forever.

And Im done messing w fixing old stocks, so irked I won't even do a new wood one.
Nope. Gimme a drop in plastic one please.

Bummer the Titan stock grip angle and me didn't get along. Fine for bench but elsucko for field.

Before I decided to just do a regular old birch stock, I looked high and low for a finger groove one. I really like them and I even thought about routing my stock to have finger grooves but I was reasonably sure I would have screwed it up.
