That’s fantastic! Great job too! The 11.5” barrel really is like cheating. lol

Rough on WW with that TacSol order on the MkIV uppers.

if you know anybody looking. I hear he's getting ready to order more of the 11.5 in carbon fiber wrapped barrels

good question! not sure, i'd think he'd buy both, because the mk1,2,3 standard vs. mk4 ratio is heavily slanted in favor of 1,2,3's!

Last time I was in he mentioned the 1/2/3 stuff would be trickling to end with how easy it is to swap on the 4. Dunno if he actually has followed through in it or not through.

On a related note, the IV's are holding value pretty well on the used market, at least out this way compared to the I-IIIs. I've come close to snagging a few clean examples of MKIs "just to have one."

Despite some user difficulties, there isn’t a bad generation of them.

Weirdly I’m down to just the two MkIIIs now. Wheelies have over taken my safe.

Every time I tear my MKIII down, it gets easier and easier.

The new job doesn't hurt either... Completely different manufacturer, but definitely helps in troubleshooting when something isn't working quite right.

Looks good. I was going to put a big scope on mine, but my current 4-12 Hawke is serving me just fine at the moment. I've really only been shooting for groups at 50 yards. Curious to see what groups you produce with the factory barrel. Mine was capable of 1 moa using CCI SV.

Not new, just new to me. This is a JC Higgins 101.16 which I purchased at auction. According to some on the RimfireCentral forum it is post WWII and pre 1949. It is also known as a Savage 87A, a Gil Gun or a Click Clack gun. Refinished the stock and did a DuraCoat refinish on all the metal and replaced a damaged front sight. Will get it back to the range soon to see how it shoots.

Ive got a springfield 87a and have been trying to get it running. Replaced all hammer and recoil springs and now on to extractors, extractor springs, cartridge lifter and cartridge guide spring.

Also got 2 Marlin 88's where the cartridge feedways need soldered. Probably need springs and on one the striker was put in backwards so can't get the plug off without maybe tearing it completely down and removing the barrel.

Yup, that 88 is a PITA. Fixed one for a guy years ago.
IIRC guide was broken, had to pull bbl to put in new one.
It had other issues that took a while to tweak in.
Got it, but think the world would have been better served had it been left alone and used as a paint stirrer.

I was drawn to them because I have an 80,81, and a 98. Do you still tinker with them or could give me tips on the one with the striker in backwards?

    One and done here LOL.
Busted guide and firing pin and internals a bit goofed.
Two types of FP IIRC, only had the one available, was able to mod to work.
I just farted with it for a while.
    Got it.........and why I won't do another.
Did it as a favor for a friend of a friend.

I got the one I can use as a guide when and if I teardown the backwards one. I might have a local smith solder the 2 feedways back together, but thought of using the lead in my smelting pot to do it myself. I only have them as one is a c&r purchase when I visited a buddy I served overseas with in Wisconsin and the other was like $125. The 98 I still haven't shot yet but will probably have issues since it was made for 2 yrs and is still an 88 basically

Pics dialing in my Ruger Mannlicher bought off a member here months ago with new rail & rings allowing it to take the strain off my arthritic neck.

75' at Point Blank in Greenwood.
First time shooting after changing rail & rings.

    50' at another range.

    Pics with the new set-up.
Neck didn't seem to hurt as much, so I'm happy.
It brought the scope up a little and back a bit more.
Easier to lean my eye into the scope.

Right. It is what I had to try to lesson the strain on my neck, or give up shooting a rifle.
