I'd like to remove this black coating. It's not the type found on coldsteel but a cheap knife. My preferred method would be to use a chemical. Please include directions, product name.
Also what would be the best paint to use for repainting?

Should have it at lows. Also Autozone, Walmart, and just about anywhere that sells spray paint. You can buy a can of it and use a paint brush to apply, or buy a spray can of it. I like the paint brush so I'm not putting that stuff in the air I'm breathing. Wear rubber gloves because that stuff burns the skin.

Most of those coatings are baked on, and designed to be tough to remove. I'd say to try and remove it with a dremel type tool or other small grinding apparatus.
