Glad to see that you are teaching her while she is young. My cousin and his wife started very early with their daughter, and she has an awsome respect and knowledge of the safe handling of firearms.
She is now 18, and her dad bought her what will be her first handgun, to give to her for Christmas this year. He and the wife both have their CCW permits, and she hopes to get hers this coming year.
I'm trying to do the same for my son, and bought him his first air rifle this past year to start him on the path to responsible ownership and use ( Daisy Red Rider ). He is making some progress, but still needs to practice on his sight picture and muzzle discipline ( has a tendency to not think about where he is pointing the thing ).
But he's learning, and getting better. Pretty soon ( about a year or so from now ) I'll start him on .22's, and if he does well with my old Marlin, maybe he will find a nice 1022 under the Christmas tree someday soon.
Of course as soon as he hits 18, he'll have to work for a living, and buy his own firearms.
