I carry a Springfield XD... pretty much ambi.

I don't know of any guns with slide releases on both sides, so you have to learn a different way.

There are a few left handed 1911's out there if you're of that persuasion. Otherwise, any modern plasticy gun is going to have ambi controls. And with a grip safety, that's one less thing to worry about.

If you're asking about a 1911 style specifically, I've got a couple that have ambi safeties, if I shoot IDPA, I sling shot on the reload, and have practiced to drop the mag by using my trigger finger or by using thumb on weak (right-hand for me).

I also have a P220 Sig that I use my offhand to drop the hammer and just fire DA/SA.

If you're looking just for a 45ACP, many of the plastic fantastics will accomplish your goal as noted above.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I’ve been looking at F&N, sig p220 and Glock 21gen 4. Can’t find one at near by gun shops to check out except the Glock. I did find the Springfield XP’s compact , nice gun
