I have a brand new rcbs 1010, it comes with a test weight labeled 500 gn. When I put the test weight on the scale it's balancing out at 250 gn. When I put a 55 gn bullet on the scale it balances at 55 gn almost perfectly. Am I just missing something or is the test weight really only half the weight it's labeled as?

Oh ok, that makes sense. It hangs somewhere on the beam then? Twice the distance from the pivot as is the pan giving it 500 gn against the powder being weighed? Still seems odd that it is marked as 500 gn.

    Add Weight..

If you would add the additional weight to the "Pointer" end of the beam, with the two adjusters on '0', with powder pan carrier+scale pan in place, it would take EXACTLY 500 grains of material in pan to center the beam pointer. If you would move the slider weight to 100 grains, then it would take 600gr. to center+so on.

You will very rarely use the additional weight--How often will you be weighing more than 510gr.?? Heck I hardly move my slider weight more than 50gr...Bill.
