Plate optic help

So I haven’t done a bunch of optics on my handguns but just put a Holson on my hellcat and the plate doesn’t mount separate. Meaning I put on the plate then the optic and just put the same screws though both. Is that right? The few others I’ve done have mounting screws for the plate different than for the dot. Maybe just the Hellcat?

I don't have a hellcat but that's not unusual.

That is how some are. I prefer that or direct mount to a true plate system. Less screws to come loose.

A good thread locker keeps things nice and tight yet alows removal if needed.

I use this:

LOCTITE® 222 – A low-strength purple threadlocker. Works on all metals and is especially good for applications that may require disassembly.
