Winter planting is the best way to propagate milkweed. I forget the details but the seeds overwintering on the ground helps them to grow in the spring.

frost seeding is what some call it. basically, broadcast seeds by hand or tool early enough in season to allow the freeze/thaw cycle to implant the seeds into soil. this requires contact with soil and solar exposure, though. also, some species seeds require stratification before proper germination. often that’s a cold strat like over winter conditions - but sometimes it’s heat from a fire, replicated by prescribed fire disturbance

I took some boots to Joe's leather shop in San Pierre for new soles and found a public fishing spot where the Kankakee and Yellow rivers converge.

Yes sir! It’s definitely a long drive, but worth it, especially this time of year. I would say last week was peak colors from Cadillac north.

I'll be at the Menards right next door. I'm west of the 131 exit on 131. That's the last exit before Big Rapids.
Ferris is a great school. Around 200 programs running there I think.

Our recent trip to Natural Bridge Geological Area and Natural Bridge State Park in Kentucky. Nearly 4 days of hiking, 5 to 10 miles a day. 111

ETA: it did clear off enough on Saturday that we got to see the partial eclipse.
