Beats me. If they did it overnight, people would still be without power, so does it really matter?I’m not saying that is. I’m saying miso shows demand is going over the forecasted load.
But that has nothing to do with Lafayette's power being interrupted.
Here is a link to the data if anybody is interested. The actual power demand does go over the cleared demand a couple of times on the 21st and 22nd.
Shutting down power to 14 thousand in Lafayette is a little fishy I'll admit. I am not sure how much that would help the grid but its certainly lowering demand.

To be clear I’m not saying it does.
Probably because they have minimal maintenance crew at night.
And they dont want to pay overtime to the day shift that would need to do it properly after hours.
So instead cut power to 14,000 folks during the heat of the day. Genius.
Power companies keep minimal maintenance crew nowadays.
They have crews that will travel State to State in emergencies.
Then, they have a small maintenance crew for day to day maintenance.
I get that.. it's 2022. It's ass backwards, but then again so is shutting power plants, so I'm not surprised.
