Gun Owners of America endorses Jim Tomes for State Senate
March 31, 2010
Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Jim Tomes for State Senate in Indiana’s 49th District.
Jim Tomes has led the hugely effective Second Amendment Patriots of Indiana for over ten years.
In 2000, under the leadership of Tomes, the Second Amendment Patriots convinced the Indiana State Police to reverse their decision to discontinue taking calls on weekends and holidays for gun transfers. That policy would have effectively shut down gun shows in Indiana.
In 2001, Tomes and his group successfully repealed a 30-year-old ban of loaded firearms gun on off-road vehicles.
The group’s crowning achievement came in 2006 when Tomes submitted language to establish a lifetime concealed carry permit in Indiana, the first (and currently only) state to have such a law.
Jim Tomes will take his leadership on gun rights issues to the State Senate. Jim understands how imperative it is to have hard-working, constitutionally-minded citizens in the state legislature, and he has demonstrated both of those traits by his long list of achievements.
