The older grandkids' part of the family still hasn't answered Susan about when we're going to eat Sunday. I told her to tell him (the dad) that we're eating at 1:00. Those that are here will eat. Those that aren't will have leftovers. He's terrible about this stuff. Doesn't care about anybody's plans but his. He first said they would come around 3:00. I don't like eating that late, at least not a big meal.

Yep. If we tell him a certain time, he'll show up an hour late, and with 5 more people than we had planned on.

The host sets the time. Either be there, or be late and have the scraps.

I think I'd tell him 12:00, and then tell everyone else 1:00

It's a weird situation.

Richard (the dad) fathered two children (our oldest grandchildren) with Susan's oldest daughter.
He also raised his ex-wife's kids as his own. The son is a good kid and has his own family now. The daughter is in prison. He is raising two of the daughter's kids, plus she has 2 others. They're each living with their own fathers. The oldest one will probably come with Richard, so he'll be bringing 5 kids total. Plus his (Richard's) dad and stepmom who are both really nice people.
