might be time for a kennel
I have one and put him in there at night and when I am gone during the day.
But like when I cook supper, I have been dropping him in a play pen, so he is still in the flow of things but not trying to nudge the pan with his nose. Which he did yesterday, that problem may have worked itself out as I think he got burned a little bit.

He figured out he can simply jump out of the play pen I have been putting him in during the day when I need him to stop constantly roaming and eating stuff in the house.
In my other house, I was able to confine mine to the kitchen with a baby gate. But you may have the same jumping problem.

yeah, he is pretty tough and smart. he climbs over/jumps over the garden fence if I don't stay in the garden with him.
Yeah, it just depends on the dog. I have had a lot of small (15-20 lb) dogs, but I've only had one that could jump a 6-ft fence. Then once they do that, what do you do? You have to watch them or keep them on a tie-out.
