Anybody know of any OJT (ON JOB TRANING) get paid to learn the trade? Have a NCCER certification (Heavy equipment operator) open to Electrical, HVAC, really any kind of blue collar trade, also very good with technology and computers
I would check all of the Union Trade Union Halls in and around Indy, check their websites and put your resume in where you can. All will have Apprenticeship Programs, I don't know which ones are looking at this time.
Union Skilled Trades are and were very good to a few of us on here.
Also look into what GM has open at the Marion stamping plant.
Also the new Solarius battery pant in Kokomo.

We have a position open for full time, afternoon shift, Monday thru Friday facilities maintenance in a 1.1 million square foot healthcare facility in Indianapolis if anyone is interested. Commercial building HVAC system, building automation, pneumatic tube system, fire alarm, sprinkler system, plumbing, electrical as well as honey-do's are some of the things you'll face. Pay commensurate with experience. I've hired 3 people for this position in the last 7 months and all were no shows on day 1. 2 completely ghosted us and 1 decided to continue free-lancing although one of my guys used to work with him and said he would pass the drug test. Our starting pay for those 3 ranged from $22 to $30/hr plus benefits.

This isn't an opening so much as a "does anyone know anyone hiring" kind of thing. I have a son who's been laid off since last year and has been interviewing extensively for a "Network Specialist/Network Administrator/Cyber Security Specialist" type of job (according to his LinkedIn account, have no idea personally what exactly he does) but has had no luck actually landing a job. I don't really have any way of helping him out since as a mechanical engineer I don't run in those circles, but was wondering if anyone here knows of companies hiring "computer geeks" as I call him. I just want to be as helpful as I can for him. Thanks in advance for any leads.

Is he willing to relocate? Plenty of jobs like that on the I95 corridor from Baltimore to N.C.

I'm not sure he is at this time...I'll have to ask him. At one time he was open to it, I believe, but he now has a fiancee who works for the local school system, and his and her whole family live within a 10 minute drive from his home. Thanks for the lead, though.

Ok, thanks. He evidently had an interview yesterday, one today and one early next week for places here in central Indiana, so he’ll keep the offer in mind. He’d of course prefer to stay in the Indianapolis area. Thanks again on his behalf.

Late response but you'd probably just get a blank stare.
Yep, I was in IT management for most of my career. I interviewed a lot of folks over the years. It's mind boggling how people dress and prepare for interviews. Our oldest son just interviewed for a position with another police department. Full suite, went around and shook everyones hand on the interview committee after the interview. He got offered position. They told him afterwards he was the most prepared, squared away candidate they interviewed. One person showed up in a flannel shirt and jeans.

At some point, I may be looking for a dragline operator. Chances are, the machine will be located near Terre Haute when it gets to that point.
